Key verse: John 16:24
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Philippians 2:9-11
Prior to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, various religions had their concepts of God and how they called on Him in their troubles. Some lost the essence of the true God and completely entered into idolatry. Yet they believed there was a being they could call to aid them in trouble. The Jews also had their ways of calling God and they have their failings too, just like many other religions. Although the Lord made the Jews to have a record of how to relate righteously with God, they kept forgetting and pursuing other ways until someone comes in a generation or the other to read to and remind them of the true and living God. They then turned to Him and laboriously called on Him to rescue them and because of His mercy, He hearkened to them. This had been the state of affairs until Christ came in the flesh, died for the sin of man with clear witnesses to say what the Lord promised mankind, He already fulfilled. And because He is the vessel through whom the great feat was accomplished, God gave His name a special accord such that thenceforth, at the mention of His name all knees bow in all the realms.
The effect of this great feat is that, there is no more a power that can withstand the request of the Believer if he makes his demands in the name of Jesus. As the name is mentioned, darkness gives way for the One who had overcome the world for us to be more than conquerors. Hence, even though men experienced some joy when they laboriously prayed and got some answer in the days of their religion, there now is a better avenue that leads to fullness of joy: asking in the name that is above every other name.
Enough of languishing in ignorance in the place of prayer. There is an expressway that leads to the throne where prayers are answered. It is in the name of Jesus. Put it to use today and see the fullness of joy in your situation. Peter at the beautiful gate knew to command the lame in the name of Jesus and he saw the miraculous through his own hands for the first time. Hold Christ to His word. Pray in His name today and ease yourself out of the hardship in religion. Do ensure you are righteous though, before doing so.
Pray: Father, let everything that is causing me pain give way for the Spirit of liberty in my life today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father.
