Awesome God!

Key verse: Ecclesiastes 3:14 - KJV

14. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

Genesis 19:23-29

Our Creator is an awesome God. He has power over all things and He does as He pleases. When God acts, it is remarkable. Whatsoever He does has a mark of permanence on it. When He supported Joshua to make the sun and moon stand still in their orbits for a full day, it remains remarkable in the number of days in which man has dwelled on earth. When the army of Egypt was drowned in the Red Sea, the story remains with the generations of Israel and Egypt as well as people of the plain. His deeds are to make men hold Him in awe as He is not anyway near being contemporaneous with any man in power. These acts however, appear to be easily forgotten of men and they seem to toy with the mighty One. From generation to generation, it seems the prowess of God and what He can do when He is against a people seem to be lost on men.

After the wiping off of the generation of men that lived in the time of Noah, which act ought not to be lost in the minds of latter earthly dwellers, there was yet a people who lived in Sodom and Gomorrah in the days of Abraham and his nephew Lot. They were so terrible that they were given to reprobate minds preferring to lay with themselves of the same sex. The waywardness was so profound that they preferred fellow men to virgin women. The effect of the flood was already lost on them even though it was meant to be an act that would draw those who learn of it closer to God. So, God decided to make another example of the people of Sodom of how life ought not to be lived. He rained fire and brimstone upon the whole of Sodom after having taken out the few righteous thereat. This act shook the people of the time and remains historical. But, years after the devastation of Sodom, which community was never again raised, people are back to their old ways and even in a greater propensity. They seem not to have the fear of God and go about life as they deem fit. Nevertheless, God is not pleased with the unrighteousness that pervades the earth. He has allowed the righteous and the sinner to grow together, per adventure some more would come to repentance. A time is however coming and it is very near, when the Lord will separate the sinner from the righteous.

The awesome God has caused the axe to be laid under every tree. Those that bear not good fruit are about to be cut down. It is time to run for dear life.

Pray: Father, please keep your fear in me that I may never move against you in Jesus name
