Focus: 1 John 3:21-22 - KJV
21. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1 John 3:19-24
Faith is a currency that cannot be discountenanced if we must enjoy in this world, the blessings of heaven. Faith simply is having confidence in God that what He says He will do, He will accomplish it. But faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The Lord has made it quite simple for us to live in and by faith. He has implanted His laws and commands in our hearts such that our consciences tell us when we are right and when we are wrong. Whenever we are wrong, the heart/conscience condemns us in our deeds. In such a matter, we are accounted to have strayed from our God, who has all our requests within His reach. Once strayed, it becomes difficult to approach Him in His throne to present our requests. When we are right however, the Holy Spirit, through our hearts/consciences guides us into what to ask and the way to go. Following this route makes it easy for us to ask and receive from our God.
Let us be clear about something: God is not pleased with people who refuse to obey His commands and do His will. If however, we find ourselves in His will, we ought to be confident in reaching out to Him regarding our matters and situation. It is our right standing that builds up our faith or confidence. No wonder the Psalmist says if he considered iniquity in his heart, the Lord would not hear him. That translates to saying, from the place of having a thought about iniquity, confidence is jeopardized. It is not until the act is fully done. It is just at the point of thought. Hence, we also need to work on our thoughts for we need to keep our hearts with great diligence. It is from there that the issues of life proceed, including iniquity.
SOLUTION: Covenant with your heart not to dwell on iniquity in any form; be intentional in doing the will of God and obeying His command. Then, you may ask what you desire from God in confidence and the Lord will grant it.
I pray with you this day that the Lord will take away by the blood of Jesus whatever debris of sin or iniquity that may still be hanging somewhere for you, in Jesus name. Happy Day!
