Focus: 1 Corinthians 14:20 - KJV
20. Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
Luke 5:1-11
Children have lack of understanding of deep things. They appreciate only meagre affairs. That is why when we offer a child a cookie, he rejoices at it and when you ask the same child to give you of the cookie, he hides it not knowing that there are still much more left in the pack from which the one came. The child seeks a gift of the fish but the man seeks knowledge of catching the fish. Peter and his friends remained children in understanding regarding Kingdom affairs when Jesus met them. They saw astonishing miracle and quivered as children, whereas the mind of the Master was to build them into men in understanding wherefrom they were to catch men. Children follow as they know not where to head for. Men take the gauntlet of leadership and thrive in it. But all men were at a point, mere children also. It is nevertheless undesirable for children to remain children perpetually. The intention of the Master is that they grow. When at the time Christ was to return to the Father, He discovered that this crop of would-be men were still children, He approached them as children and charged them to become men. When they eventually became men, the effect of their understanding is still being felt all over the world today. So, this day, the Lord is saying to us also, you need not hold malice or have anything to do with it; but as regards understanding Kingdom affairs, be men.
For as long as we allow ourselves to be spoon fed in Kingdom affairs, we are no better than children therein. The expectation of God is for us to study to show ourselves approved unto God as men of understanding of the affairs of God in the kingdom of men so that as the light thereof, we are able to illuminate the entire spectrum and drive darkness away.
SOLUTION: To show ourselves as men genuinely, we must rise to the level of the fullness of the stature of Christ. Nature obeyed Christ. Until same is said of us, we are yet to attain the stature of men. Clearly therefore, we can see that we are yet to start. Lay aside every distraction in the way of your growth therefore and imbibe Christ fully henceforth.
The Lord will make us grow rapidly in Him that we may attain the fullness of the stature of Christ in Jesus’ name. Hence, we shall start to do the works Christ did and greater works also as men in the name of Jesus Christ. Let’s ascribe to be men in understanding. It pays.
