Care for the needy

Text: Romans 15:1

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Bible Reading:

Luke 3: 7-14

Message:

The entirety of the Gospel of the kingdom is about love: the love of God and the love of the neighbor. God gave us an example of what love is. While we were yet sinners, He loved us and gave His life in ransom for our sin. This is further explained in giving His only begotten Son in a manner of speaking to us for our salvation. That is love inspite of our despicable state and lack of qualification. In the same vein, He expects us to reciprocate His love by loving Him in return. Incidentally, although He is, His being is mainly evidenced in His works as He is not physical but a Spirit. How then do we show love to a Spirit? All souls belong to God. Treatment meted out to any soul is done towards God. When you pray that a man should perish, you are asking God to kill whom He loves. When you out of vendetta refuse to give to a person in need, you are failing to reciprocate God’s example. You cannot claim to love God whom you do not see when you fail to show love to the man whom you see, regularly. It beats one how convenient it is for wealthy people or at least people who have enough to spare, pass by the less privileged without affecting the same in any positive way. Some even haggle the wares of a less privileged with deliberate effort to erode same of profit. God is speaking to you to repent from such today. On the flip side, let not the needy always assume anyone is ignoring his need as you are not able to tell what the supposed affluent is going through at a point in time. It is important you do good to your neighbor as it is reckoned you do it to Christ. It is important to note that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Prayer Guide:

Thank you father for putting me in a state better than many others. Help me never to ignore the poor again in my journey of life in Jesus name.
