Christ’s unchangeable Priesthood

Focus: Hebrews 7:24-25 – KJV

24. But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7: 1-28

There are priests and there are priests. Abraham, the father of faith met the High Priest Melchizedek and gave him a tithe from the spoils of war, or his earnings in a manner of speaking. This High Priest was special and of no known beginning or ending. At the time of Moses, the sons of Levi, the great grandson of Abraham, were chosen into priesthood. These, like mere men that they were, had flaws and therefore first had to sacrifice and atone for their personal sins before attempting to intercede on behalf of others. As mighty as these priests may have been, their intercessory powers and dispositions ended when they died. Some did die when they went with filth before the Most High. At any rate, since they were still in Abraham when he gave tithe to Melchizedek, their priesthood is subservient to that of Melchizedek, which is unending. Christ is a Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Though He departed the earth physically, His atonement for the sin of man has been taken care of, once and for all and He continues to intercede on our behalf even up till now. The beauty of that is that He also lived life on earth and understands the vagaries involved. Hence, He knows how to make a plea on our behalf having gone through what we are passing through. He knows when we fall victims of the enemy’s deception as there were attempts to deceive Him too. So, in Him we do not have a High Priest that cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities.

That which you are confronting at this time appears grave and terrible. But thank God you have an interceding High Priest yet in Christ Jesus whose priesthood never abates. You can place all reliance on Him to plead your course and there is no better way to attain victory than through Him. Cast your burdens on Him. He cares for you and will see you through. Current human priests are wonderful and they are doing a no-enviable job standing in the gap for others. But every man has his flaws. Only Christ is absolutely pure. Relying on Him is a guarantee for success.

SOLUTION: The clarion call is to “come unto (Christ) all ye that labor and are heavy ladened and (He) will give you rest”. Place it all on Him to plead on your behalf. He can never fail.

May the Lord hear your voice in the day of trouble, and may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob shield you from the fiery darts of the enemy in Jesus name. May God give you victory without you engaging in the fight yourself in Jesus name. And may the song of victory be sweet from your lips this day in Jesus name. Cheer up beloved. Christ reigns!
