Focus: Hebrews 7:24-25 – KJV 24. But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:1-28
The concept of priesthood did not begin with the Levites or Aaron as many would want to believe. Yes, the first high priest that Israel had was Aaron, the Levite; but before Aaron, there was a High Priest to whom his fore bear, Abraham, gave a tithe of the spoil he got, when he went to rescue Lot from his assailants. That Priest, called Melchizedek, has neither beginning nor ending. Even when contention came as to Christ claiming to know Abraham, who gave the tithe to Melchizedek, His response, to the nay sayers of the time, was “before Abraham was, I am”. Christ is that Priest who was in the beginning, without whom nothing was formed that was formed. Although the Levitical priests stood in between the Israelis and God, for them to properly stand and seek the atonement of their sins, he needed first to atone for his own sins, otherwise he would be struck dead if he entered before the holy one, filthy. But Christ, the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek, who needed not atone for any sin of His, rather gave Himself as the lamb for the atonement, whereby He saved us to the uttermost, once and for all.
Even though Christ has paid the price for our sins and is there before the Father as our advocate, interceding on our behalf all the time, some still engage in menial sacrifices in the Levitical order. Incidentally, unlike the days of old, the priest that bears their sacrifice may be as filthy as the sons of Eli who were called sons of Belial, without him knowing. How then do we assume that the one who needs atoning for his own sins can rightly plead our cause before the throne of God? Can a prisoner stand surety for another accused person? Christ, our High Priest is the qualified surety and has paid in full the price for our discharge and not just bail. Indeed, by Him, we are fully acquitted of all charges and accusations from the accuser of the brethren. Let us therefore obtain grace by holding tenaciously on to that salvation He has brought to us and stop deceiving ourselves by hiding under the cloaks of priests who need ransoming themselves.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, every handwriting of the accuser militating against your wellbeing shall be erased today by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, in Jesus’ name. The one that sets free and makes free indeed sets you free today, from every ill effect of the accusations of the devil, in Jesus’ name. Every affliction and turmoil that had been ravaging your person or family or nation is terminated today by the saving power of the sacrifice of Jesus, who has the power to save us to the uttermost, in Jesus’ name. Because of the advocacy of the Lord Jesus on your behalf, every iniquity that had the tendency to put you out of fellowship with the Holy Spirit are forgiven you today, in Jesus’ name. Therefore, every ambush from the pit of hell against you, is scattered for your sake, in Jesus’ name. Receive the benefit of being under the priesthood of Christ from today, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: Put yourself directly under the priesthood of Christ and away from the deceiver. All the deceiver seeks is to keep man in bondage. Don’t let him have you. Get under the cover of Christ.
