Do All As To God

Focus: Colossians 3:23-24 - KJV

23. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:12-25

Any society that thrives is one where the citizens are governed by the Rule of Law and they obey the laws. The reason they do not take the laws into their hands in most instances is not because of the unconscionable citizen but because of regard for the State. Conversely, the societies that are full of vices are like that for impunity’s sake. They have little regard for the State and therefore refuse to be subservient to the laws. This position can be used to view our relationship with our God. No matter what people do to us, we are to relate with them based on the commands of God. For instance, the Lord had declared that no one should touch His anointed or do His prophet any harm. When opportunity provided itself for David to strike king Saul, he refused to. Not because Saul was good, immune or untouchable physically, but because of the Lord who, though was not even physically present, is Omnipresent. So, David did what he did not for Saul but unto the Lord. Of course, he has his reward for so doing and Saul also his for being wayward and wicked. Therefore, like David, the Lord is inviting us to do all things as unto the Lord: not because of the recipient of our actions who for all we care may be vile and “unlovable”, but because of the Lord, our first love.

It does not matter what that person has done or is doing to hurt you; the one who enjoins you to pray for them that despitefully use you, is asking that you don’t countenance his deeds in your doing what you need to do, in love. Please do not withhold your hand from doing good because of the deeds of any man. You will only be like your father in heaven when you ignore the misdeeds of others to show them love. For whilst we were yet sinners, Christ came and died for us. If He was to consider our wickedness towards Him which is exemplified in our sinful ways, then we deserved not that He came. Please do it all unto the Lord, your lover.

SOLUTION: Anytime you want to do what you need to do, look not to the recipient but to the Lord. Thoughts of how undeserving man is will come, just ignore them and look to Christ as you do what you need to do in love.

Blessed God, we want to be like you and therefore we are willing to do all as unto you for the deeds of men can be disheartening. That we may be able to carry this through we ask that your Spirit envelope us anew in the name of Jesus. Please bless us by your Spirit to continue to love them that appear not to love us in Jesus’ name. In the end, please let our reward be sure in the name of Jesus Christ.
