Don’t depart from God.

Writer: Jide OlaoreJide Olaore

Focus: Hebrews 3:12 – KJV

12. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Hebrews 3:12-15

The main reason that causes drifting away from the living God is unbelief. Unbelief is brought about by deceit. Deception comes from the lie of the enemy who is fond of wanting to make man believe that God does not mean well for him. Take a look at how Eve was deceived: it started with a question on whether the Lord has asked them not to eat of the trees in the garden and it resorted in a lie saying “ye will not surely die”, although the enemy knew that the wages of sin is death. The end result of course, was a departure from God. Today, the enemy has not stopped using the same antics in making man depart from God. From the lie, Eve saw something good out of a death trap. It is the same today: the lie of the enemy always presents sin as sweet. As sweet as it appears, it is the source of death and departure from God which is departure from life.

Beloved, today is the last day in the first month of the year. The year is no longer so new. Time is running. A time comes when it will be too late to do much for God on this side of eternity. A mistake in departing from God at any time can be fatal and absolutely costly. Be careful not to accept the bait of the enemy aimed at drawing you away from your God. A disconnection from God puts man in a vulnerable position and opens him to easy deceit from the enemy. Is there a thing that you are being enticed to for which you have doubts and personal resistance from going into? Watch that space: it may be the lie of the devil to draw you out into a departure from the living God. When Judas was to depart, he was not told his Master was to be killed. It was only an identification for knowledge sake request. In the end, his departure was total. Peter was deceived but Christ came back for him. May God be available to lead you out of deception always in Jesus name.

SOLUTION: Always ensure that you stick with only those things God approves and particularly what your heart does not disapprove. When there is the slightest disapproval, don’t fight it, rather stop to ponder, meditate and hold on to the counsel of God thereon.

Lord, you are the One that knows all truth. Help me from today to abide only in your truth so that I will not fall prey of the deceiver in the name of Jesus. I cherish being with you, Lord. Please don’t ever allow me to make the mistake of departing from you in Jesus name. Thank you Father Lord.
