Key verse: Psalms 37:5
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Judges 7:1-8
The way of the shepherd is to nurture the sheep in the best way he can by taking it to pastures to feed, having it nourished with clean water and keeping it safe from predators. Basically, the shepherd understands the language of the sheep and to be in proper tune with it, he endeavors to fulfill that which the sheep desires even though the sheep may not of its own know what is best for it. Our God is the Great Shepherd and we are the sheep of His pasture. He has the responsibility of ensuring the sheep is cared for. Although as the sheep we have our thoughts and requests, but our Shepherd knows better. He understands the terrain, the things we need for nurturing and even the route to ply in our journeys. Incidentally, no predator has the capacity to confront Him. Hence, whenever we allow Him to carry out His obligation as a Shepherd, there is never a regret. At times, the sheep may want to insist on a pattern of life. But because the shepherd knows better, he gets into control and ensures a happy ending. We also at times curry danger believing it is sweet. But because our Shepherd knows the end from the beginning, He takes us through the better, albeit tortious route, for us to arrive at the desired end gloriously.
Gideon was to himself an ordinary man and the least in Israel when the Lord took him over to lead Israel in battle as a mighty man of valor. He took with him a large battalion of soldiers to fight in the battle. But the Great Shepherd knew better and instructed otherwise. Because Gideon was not heady and would commit his way unto the Lord, with a far less number of soldiers and better strategy which was divine, he got the victory. David was in the habit of first telling God his plans and asking for permission to execute before engaging. Whatever the Lord told him to do, he did and was victorious.
The One who saw Gideon through without stress and helped David in his battles is the same yesterday, and today and forever. He is never tired of shepherding His flock. The only issue is whether the sheep are willing to commit their ways unto Him like the people of old who did so and got beautifully sorted. If we will commit our ways to Him, He can shorten days as well as make things happen faster. Indeed, nothing is too difficult for Him. Lean on Him today and He will bring your desires to pass. Be blessed.
Pray: Father, you are My Shepherd: I commit all my endeavors unto you, do please guide me through them all and bring it to pass in Jesus name.
