Text: Galatians 1:10
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Bible Reading:
Mark 10:1-9
Message:
The word of God is settled forever in heaven. It is abominable for men to seek to amend the word of God to suit themselves or, worse still to please men and to be seen as a good man. God will not because of anyone lower His standards. What is written is settled. It is unfortunate that many men and children of God have been made to fall in this area through the pressure and stubbornness of man. Saul sought to please men rather than God and forfeited the throne of Israel. Moses made many generations of Israel to sin against God by allowing them to issue certificate of divorce whenever they felt they were displeased with their wife. Meanwhile, that is not the injunction of God. Many today dilute the word of God by preaching to please men claiming one must consider the culture of certain places in teaching them godliness. If their deeds and acts are approvable of God, your presence there as a minister of the Gospel or Christian will not be necessary. As the light of the world and salt of the earth, you are prepared for to remove the decay thereat and not to keep it on. Stop the compromise. God is disgusted with your turning your back on him to please men. Oh! You are not a preacher? Of course! But that which the Lord has poured in you why are you whittling it down to appear pleasing to the world? Abstain from every appearance of evil. And please, abstain means abstain - stay away completely. Don’t be found complicit in it. Your conformity with the world is enmity with God. Your plight to please men against God’s counsel estranges you from God. Beware.
Prayer:
Father, help me to please you in my deeds so as not to offend you in a bid to please men, in the name of Jesus Christ.
