Deuteronomy 7:7-12
When God makes a promise or covenant, He ensures the performance. Unless something (sin) stops Him from the performance, He continues to perform even unto many generations. This He does for many reasons but majorly because He loves us and of course, He cannot lie. Moses reminded Israel that the Lord did not choose them for their number but because He loved them and to fulfil His covenant with their fathers. Nevertheless, that covenant is maintained only in obedience unto God. For as long as they remained in obedience unto the Lord, He was bound to keep loving them from generation to generation. True to that, every time Israel went against the commands of God, they had themselves to blame as the enemy came against them to their own destruction. For instance, when they built altars to strange Gods, the enemy appointed the Philistines to torment them. Also, when Achan took the forbidden item, God did not go with them to war and they were defeated badly. But, for as long as they remained obedient, He made their enemies their footstool from generation to generation. Today, the Lord remains faithful still keeping His covenants with those who love Him.
The Lord is faithful to fulfil His promises towards you. But unless you show Him love by obeying His commands, you by yourself keep delaying the fulfilment. Remember God is eternal: He changes not. If you will ensure that you obey His commands from now, those things that you had been wondering why they have not been coming through shall start finding fulfilment. That is the proof of your love. The One who loves you, curries your love in return. Offer it to Him. Incidentally, when you do, even your generations will partake of the benefit. Don’t delay.
SOLUTION: Consider your ways and expunge everything that represents disobedience forthwith. Start putting to performance all that the Lord has commanded. Soon, you will start to see the result.
Dear Lord, we know you do love us and uphold your covenants with us up to a thousand generations. Please help us to love you also that we may continue to enjoy the benefit of your love in Jesus’ name. Please prevent us from ever offending you; don’t let us fall short of your love in Jesus’ name. In all things, do keep us in obedience unto you in Jesus’ name.
