God’s Other Side

Focus: Psalms 68:35 - KJV

35. O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.

Hebrews 10:26-31

When we know God, we know love for God is Love. Nonetheless, He likes to be accorded the honor due to Him. When Satan challenged the authority of God in heaven, wanting to raise his throne higher than that of God so as to be like the Most High, the Lord turned against him as well as a third of the angels that backed him up, by banishing them from His presence and preventing a return. Similarly, when Adam and his wife challenged the authority of God in the garden by disobeying His voice, He banished them from His presence by getting them off the garden and forestalled their return, even though because of being Love, and knowing that their action was due to deception, He made a way for them to return into fellowship with Him.

We all need to realize that this God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hence, if He banished the most anointed cherub and a third of his angels, as well as Adam and Eve from His presence for disobedience, He would not hesitate to do the same and indeed He has done the same to many others who lived by such tenets of disobedience. So, to the extent of dealing with the disobedient, God can be said to be terrible. But, wait a minute: He is not so terrible after all. When He banished the devil and his angels, they were only convicted and banished; their punishment is yet to come. That is why the Bible speaks of a place reserved for them. He simply did not destroy man also but gave him multiple chances for restoration. He must however, not be taken for granted. Though He is Love, He is also reckoned as the Consuming Fire. If He could say no more to Moses, who can He not say so to?

Beloved, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. He has spent so much resources for us to come to salvation. If after showing us the way, we refuse to follow it, then are we worse than we were when we were ignorant of the way. Adam had no opportunity of scripture but just the voice he heard, in the beginning. When he erred, he was banished. If we, who have all the scriptures, preachers and apps that point us to the Kingdom, refuse to obey the voice of God, how do we imagine we will be treated? It is a clarion call now for us to quickly repent of our evil ways just so that the Judge of the whole earth will not hit His gavel in our matter. When He does, it may be difficult to get restored into fellowship with Him. He has given us long rope just so that we may return unto Him. Our refusal to return is a challenge to His authority and He frowns at such.

SOLUTION: All that the Lord seeks of us is obedience. Let us show Him love by obeying His every command. Refusal to do so is to yield to the command of the one who seeks to be like the Most High, thereby replacing God with him in the place of authority. That simply is calamitous. Let us repent and be focused.

Please pray: Father, help me to live by you alone never to listen or hearken to the voice of the stranger ever, in Jesus’ name. Let every inducement and enticement towards disobeying you be vain in my psyche, in Jesus’ name. Help me never to fall unto your terrible side O Lord, in Jesus’ name.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
