Keeping God’s Testimony

Focus: Psalms 119:88 - KJV

88. Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

Psalms 71:20-24

A man’s life is said to be short and full of troubles. Although the troubles are the handiwork of the devil, he puts to use other men to achieve the infliction of pain and sorrow on his victims. More often than not, many seek the hurt of another, particularly those on the side of the Lord, consistently, as if never to stop. David was such a victim of the carnal attacks of men. When he was first introduced to stardom by the Lord, in the contest against Goliath, it was his blood brother that the enemy used to taunt him saying he had knowledge of David’s thoughts for coming to the field. Meanwhile, the poor lad came because of love, to give him and other siblings lunch. King Saul also sought his hurt despite helping to relieve him of insanity and not allowing the Philistines to lift his head off his neck in several battles. The same is true of every man who is on the Lord’s side.

Nevertheless, we are not meant to cringe under the yoke and burden hipped on us by the enemy through our acquaintances. The word of God asserts that they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the words of their testimonies. The weapon of our victory is our testimonies of the truth of God and what He has done for us. For instances, David never stopped singing praises unto God despite the pressure from the enemy. Indeed, it was his recounting the testimonies of what the Lord did for him as a shepherd that gave him boldness in the Lord to confront, defeat and behead Goliath. Resting in the Lord’s testimonies and promises for his life made him to outlive Saul, the king that sought his hurt, and shame was the lot of the king’s family from then. David was special: he did not allow the distraction of the enemy brought about by the things he suffered from friends to prevent him from serving his God. This should be our creed and way also.

Beloved, it is true that the enemy is buffeting you sorely at this time. Please keep hope alive by dwelling more on the testimonies of the truth of God in your life. The one that had prevented you in the past from the devouring jaws of the lion will keep you to fulfil promise in Him. In the days of Joseph, as a slave, his owner could have done to him as he pleased including fatal execution for the allegation against him was a clear affront on his master. But the Lord did not allow the thought of execution to come to the master just so that Joseph may be preserved to fulfill purpose and destiny. The Lord is assuring you today, that it does not matter what the enemy is pushing at this time against you, He will be there for you like He has always been. He changed the idea of killing to selling into slavery for Joseph, and subsequently, execution to prison, just so that he would get to the throne. You will also not miss that throne.

SOLUTION: Keep on serving and praising God knowing that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Even the fire could not kindle the Hebrew boys when they maintained their testimony of God. Stand firm in the truth of God’s testimony and see the salvation of the Lord.

Please pray: Father, I have full confidence in you and thank you for how you have kept me from the jaws of the lion seeking to devour me. Even in this present predicament, I trust in you that you will never leave nor forsake me. Therefore daddy, arise in your power for my sake today and put every enemy of my destiny to flight in the name of Jesus Christ. Grant me the grace to have the last laugh dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
