Occupy Till The Lord Comes!

Focus: Luke 19:12-13 - KJV

12. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. 13. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

Matthew 25:14-30

One wonders why men come into the world and assume it is a place to stay forever! A time was when the sixty-year-old of this day was just a young school boy. When he reflects on how so soon he has aged, he gets baffled to know that time has really flown by, in a jiffy. He sees other young lads doing stuff he did as a toddler and he starts to marvel where time has gone. Suddenly, he is a grandfather and treated like a spent force. Yet, people continue to live as if there is more to life than is appreciable. The truth is, the earth belongs to God and He only allows man a little time like a stranger to pass through. When giving the tenancy to man, He expects man to understand that he is only a caretaker for the owner and that he would give an account of his stewardship when the owner returns for His enterprise.

Like it works in life, when the landlord comes and discovers that the tenant has not been faithful in keeping the property in good stead, the landlord is not happy about it and is quick to evict such tenant. So is the earth to man. To occupy till the Lord comes is to live according to the rules of our tenancy which is to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth, in righteousness. Where, however, we fail to employ such tenets and live a worthless life, the owner is bound to come at a point, to request of us what we have done with that which He gave us. Like in the story of the ten virgins, those who fail to live in righteousness shall in the end be kept outside like the dogs. To be kept outside is to be like the homeless. Homelessness is a terrible situation which we should not wish even our enemy. Nonetheless, some are going to suffer such fate going by the way they live.

Friends, all the indicators show that the Landlord/Bridegroom is about to come. What account shall we give of our stewardship when He comes? Those things which we run after that make us ignore His instruction and our obligation under the tenancy we entered into, will only serve to hurt the unfaithful ones in the end. Pause to ponder: assuming there is truly a place that the dead go after time on earth, where will you end up if the Lord comes today to ask for an account of your stewardship – heaven or hell? Only the faithful ones will make heaven where there are mansions awaiting them; the others will end up homeless and thrown into the lake of fire which was prepared originally for the usurper of the earth, against whom we were ordained to occupy the earth, in the first place. That will be a sorry state in the end.

SOLUTION: Check the state of your tenancy on earth right now. How far gone have you spent the term you have? Incidentally, no one knows the particular tenor of his own tenancy. Some young people assumed because they were young, they still had time to repent but in the course of an escapade, their tenancies got terminated. Don’t ever assume there is still time. Adjust your ways now, before it is too late.

Please pray: Father, do please help me to realize always that this world is not my home that I may be your faithful representative at all times thereat in Jesus’ name. Please do not allow me to forfeit my tenancy in a bad light in Jesus’ name. And, when you will come to take back the Certificate for my Occupancy, let me be adjudged faithful, in Jesus’ name.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
