Sing of God’s Power and Mercy
Key verse: Psalms 59:16
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
Psalms 51:1-5
Life is a battle. From conception to the last breath of man, he is in a battle of sort. From the sperm that fertilized the egg that made a man conceived in the mother’s womb, there is a tussle amongst multitude of sperms before the one that eventually fertilized the egg. It is a battle. From the time of pregnancy until delivery, it is a serious battle. The enemy sees a potential person coming into dominion and wants him miscarried. When he wins, and comes to life, there is a battle that seeks to make him die as an infant. Ask Moses and the Lord Jesus Christ whose records we have. And on and on until he breathes his last on earth, the enemy stands against his fulfilling destiny.
But God in His power and mercy sees us through without allowing the enemy to succeed in our matter from the beginning till now. If not for Him, we would have been long forgotten. Many are by the way. It is because there are things we need to fulfil for God’s pleasure that He has kept us thus far. David knew this much. Aside the fact that his conception and birth were borne out of sinful affair, he himself had not been faithful to God in purity. He was full of vices. But recognizing the power of God as his defense and His mercy over his life, David sang praises unto God for such benevolence towards him, a sinner. Reckon that he had insatiable urge for women despite God’s injunction against covetousness. If he had been king when he first laid eyes on Abigail, Nabal’s wife, he was likely to have used his power to take the woman. Or how do we explain his instruction to bring her once the husband died? Shouldn’t she have been allowed to mourn her husband and have any of Nabal’s kins take her over as Moses instructed? But, in all these, he knew how to get to the heart of God through praise.
Beloved, what is it the enemy is pushing your way that is causing you to be weary? God that ransomed you with His power and mercy from your inception till now is still available. Why not praise Him for His past deeds and even for what you expect from Him. He will not fail you. He understands your frailty yet He needs you to come through for Him in the fulfilment of that destiny of yours. Praise Him today, the best way you can.
Pray: Father, I thank you for your power and mercy that have kept me in the battles of my life. Please continue to fight my battles that I may fulfil destiny in you in Jesus name.
