Acts 17:16-23
There is so much to learn about the Lord Jesus Christ and the Christian faith that it is better to spend time discussing the scriptures – talking about, hearing about the Lord and what He stands for – than engaging in listening to or speaking about things that are being repeated or have nothing meaningful to add to our lives and destinies. There is great value in being particular about the word of God, which leads to knowing God. Paul, in Athens, found people who are willing to discuss and discover new things. Incidentally, as against that which they were used to, Paul had a very “strange” doctrine about the person of God to the extent that, even though they had the perspective of God, they did not know Him and therefore they raised an altar with inscription: to an unknown God. Engaging in telling them about the true and living God made the society in Athens to have an insight into the Christian God, whom Paul represented.
Like the people in Athens, there are many people on earth today who are hitching for God and appear to be serving God. Yet, they are far from knowing who God is. If they do know, how come there are different beliefs, different modes of worship, different attitudes about God and different concepts about what He wants? For instance, it is not against the service of some people’s God to kill fellow beings for not serving that God, or saying things about His messenger that are considered detrimental. Meanwhile, some others think since God says man should not kill, God hates killings and therefore, men should live in love. The two Gods described cannot be said to be the same, can they? It is therefore, good that we take out time to listen to and correct in love, those notions of God that do not conform to the identity of our dear God.
The Lord by Himself shall reveal His true being to every user of this Guide in Jesus’ name. From this day forward, none of us will raise altar to an unknown God, ever again in Jesus’ name. As we begin to worship the true God in Spirit and in truth, His Spirit will quicken our mortal bodies to assist others to come to the knowledge of the true God even as we spend our time wisely for the purpose of the Kingdom of the true God, in Jesus’ name. And as we do, the Lord shall bless us with all blessings in heavenly places such that even on earth, people will marvel at our excellence, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: It is important to redeem the time now, more than ever, for truly, the days are evil. Spend time more in things that pertain to the Kingdom. Eschew frivolities.
