Stop being childish

Memorize: Galatians 4:6-7

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Read: Galatians 4:1-7

A child is defined as an unborn or recently born person; a young person between infancy and puberty. The child knows not what to do by himself to be right. He takes whatever is thrown at him by his handlers. For instance, he cannot decline to stay where he is put or what he is given to wear. He concedes to whatever he is assigned. That is why scripture says he is not different from a servant even though he is the king’s heir. Christ calls us no more servants but friends. A child is like a servant. Until he grows out of his childish ways before he can assert his rights from the knowledge of who he truly is. The child will grow into sonship under the tutelage of some others until he becomes grown to the stature the father approves. If he refuses to grow to that level he remains under tutelage.

When we become born again, though old things passed away, yet we remain in “bondage” of the world so to say, driven to and fro with the winds of doctrine not knowing what to do. But God, our father has appointed unto us tutors to school us in His word and ways so that we also may become sons and come to the stature of the fullness of Christ and thereby putting in us the Spirit of His Son that we might also qualify to call Him daddy and therefrom be led constantly by the Spirit so that we are referred to as sons of God. It is then that we are no longer reckoned as servants but sons and therefore joint heirs with Christ. Friends, unless we grow out of our childish ways in which we play religion and follow all manner of garbage thrown at us, we are not likely to take the benefits of the Kingdom as God has purposed it for us.

Get born again for that is the beginning of your journey to sonship. But then please don’t remain static: crave for more than the milk of the word of God; ask to chew the meat through your dedication and aspire to crush the bones someday. At the point of bone crushing are you affirmed a son that can’t be driven about with the waves of doctrine. Those who are not are constantly being cheated by the kingdom of darkness.

Pray:

Father, please grant me the grace to keep growing in you that I may attain the stature of the fullness of Christ in Jesus name.
