Key verse: 1 Corinthians 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Read: 1 Corinthians 1:10-31
Prior to the coming of Christ, everyone sinned and fell short of the glory of God in Adam. But by Christ Jesus we all are called to the beauty of God’s holiness. As the father is one with the Son without disputations and contention, the Lord wants us all in the body of Christ to be one. It is ego, borne out of the flesh, which is not of God, that brings about contention. Some just want to show off what they have achieved as against what others appear to have done. Such disputations as to say you are of Paul and I am of Apollos is not necessary in the body. It is important to know that there is none who is of himself in the body. Everything that we have and all that we are we derive from Christ. So, if Paul plants and Apollos waters, it is Christ that brings the increase.
Therefore, if anyone must glory at all, he should glory in the Lord who is the Source. Christ is the one that the Lord has made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. In other words, take Christ out of the equation and the boisterous “Christian” is empty. If then we have that understanding, why need we dispute over menial matters particularly as they pertain to the things of the Kingdom? It is an absolute distraction sent by the enemy to slow down the work. If only you accept that it is Christ that strengthens you, then you will be able to allow Him the glory and not be affected by the doings or sayings of others to cause disputations. That great sermon that you preached, that great miracle that happened through you, that elevation that someone got through your recommendation, that approval that was made possible because you said so and so on, were not your doing but that of Christ through you.
Why don’t you therefore allow Him to take the glory? Oh! You are not the main cause of the disputation? What does it matter? End it now anyway. You have nothing to gain by it. Rather, it stands to dispel your gains if you don’t act fast. The enemy is out to devour. Don’t give him any room in your space.
Pray:
Father, I know that I can only do the things you allow. Help me to constantly remember this and give you all the glory in the name of Jesus.
