The Comforter is Here

Focus: John 14:16-17 - KJV

16. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 14:16-18

Christ died for our ransom. From the time He died, He was to be withdrawn from the flesh back to His place in glory. Mankind had however tasted of His goodness, kindness and glory. This which had been tasted was what apparently was being taken away from the earth and particularly from believers. Hence, that there may be a cushioning of the effect of His departure, Christ promised to send another Comforter who is the Holy Spirit. Incidentally, He made the promise to send the Holy Spirit only to the believers who were to feel the impact of His own departure and not necessarily to the whole world. Invariably therefore, Christ was God’s gift of love to the entire world but the Holy Spirit is His gift unto the Body of Christ alone. Hence, no one outside the Body is given the grace of having the Holy Spirit. Meanwhile, that promise found actualization from the day of Pentecost. But while Cornelius and his household remained a part of the world, he sought God’s comfort but did not get it until Peter was brought to show them the way and do the needful before they also received the Comforter.

Today, many people carry in them the Spirit of truth, the Comforter sent from God because they are believers in Christ. These ones receive from the Holy Spirit regularly, teachings of the truth of the Word of God and importantly, He reminds same of the teachings of the Christ Himself. Yes, the Holy Spirit is here working with people. It is only those who know Christ that testify to that. It is by the Spirit that the apostles of old did great exploits in the name of Jesus and even now, those carrying the Gospel around still do greater works. Some, having been deceived and brainwashed by the enemy, assume the great works being done by the help of the Holy Spirit are mere fluke. How so wrong. The dead are still rising; the deaf hearing; the lame walking and so on. You and I can also start to do exploits by the power of the Spirit if we join the winning team of Believers. Do you truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? If you do, then pray for the Comforter to rest upon you and you will have Him.

By the power in the name of Jesus Christ, receive the Holy Ghost today, in Jesus’ name. Go and do exploits in Jesus’ name.
