Focus: John 10:9 - KJV
9. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 10:7-15
A door ordinarily connotes an access to something, or somewhere, aside the present place. The Lord categorizes the men that occupy the earth into sheep and goats. The sheep are those who are possessors of the gentle Spirit of God and hearken to the voice of the Lord, their Shepherd. The goats on the other hand, are those who are stubborn and would not listen to their Lord. The good shepherd is the shepherd of the sheep and not of the goats. The one that shepherds the goats leads them in a way, and through a door, that leads to perdition. Christ describes their place as the left side. As for the sheep, they are the ones that hear His voice and obeys, without listening to the voice of a stranger, particularly the shepherd of the goats, who in truth is hireling and not shepherd.
That we may have clear indication of which shepherd to follow, Christ makes it abundantly clear to us that every other person that came before Him is never a shepherd of the sheep; but thieves and robbers, and at best, hirelings, as none of them was fit to rescue the sheep from destruction. Hence, as the good Shepherd, He is the only door that affords the sheep access to their deserved rest, as He is the way thereto. Now, there is no other access to eternal bliss than this door called Jesus Christ. He gives pasture to those who enter in by Him. It is indeed great loss for those who refuse to join the fold of the sheep for they lack green pasture and eat only every garbage they find in the way. They are unfortunately, unruly and therefore maltreated by their ‘carer’ who is a hard one, and has no iota of mercy in him.
The message of God to us today is to eschew every trait of goats that may be in us, by turning to the Door of the sheep. Turning to Him is listening to His voice and abiding in it. Please ignore the activities of the enemy. Rather, yield to the good Shepherd who, by His calling, will not only give you pasture, but also protect you from the incursion of the predators. The reason they appear to be gaining ground against you may just be the fact that they have not found you accessing the Door who is not only your access, but equally your shield, from being accessed by the enemy. Once you access this Door, you will rest and dine on the table the good Shepherd makes for you, without the enemy being able to reach you, even though you dine in his full glare. It is more glorious to be the sheep than to be the goat; the stubbornness of the goat informs its destruction.
SOLUTION: Be determined to remain a sheep by seeking the voice of the good Shepherd, and obeying it. When you do, you will never obey again the voice of strangers. Never deviate from the way the Door leads you to. Those out of it are in the way of perdition.
Please pray: Dear Lord, I recognize you are the way, the truth and the life as well as the Door to the sheep. Do keep me in you that I may always be in pasture in the name of Jesus. No matter what may happen, please do not let me ever end up in the way of the goats, O Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Kindly share with others if you have been blessed by this Guide. God bless you as you do so, in Jesus' name.
