Focus: Psalms 27:8 - KJV
8. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
1 Kings 13:1-6
The face of the Lord is against those who do evil. His face carries light in its countenance such that when it is upon a person, it lightens up the same and makes darkness far from him. If, however, His face is against a person, it means the light of His countenance is taken away from such as a result of which darkness, bearing evil, has a free reign in the affairs of the same.
There was a king in the days of scripture named Jeroboam. He was an evil doer despite being the king in Israel. He encountered a prophet of God who came to deliver the message of God against the evil altar at Bethel. Rather than seek the face of the Lord for mercy when he heard the pronouncements of the prophet, he actually lifted his hand to strike the prophet. And, since the face of the Lord was against him already, being a wicked king, darkness struck him such that his lifted hand withered. Realizing his folly, the king pleaded with the prophet to intreat the face of the Lord for him, and immediately it was done, his hand was restored.
What we all need is the Lord’s face and countenance in the journey through life. When His face is upon us, we are bound to excel in our doings; if otherwise, then there is gloom beckoning (God forbid). We should therefore seek the face of the Lord regularly that we may operate in the brightness of His countenance, far away from darkness and destruction. If there are issues confronting you now, and it is seemingly insurmountable, please seek the face of the Lord.
SOLUTION: Seeking the face of the Lord is in obeying His commands, singing praises unto Him and asking for His intervention in one’s matters. Let nothing distract us from doing this from time to time. Therein lies victory.
Father, we thank you for all that you do for us even when we are not conscious of many of them. Lord, please let the light of your countenance be bright upon us all, never to depart again in Jesus’ name. For everyone that your face had been against, we seek your face for them also, please rescue them by the power in your face dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
