"But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord."— Jeremiah 9:24 (KJV)
The world constantly tells us to find our identity in what we achieve, what we own, or who we know. In Jeremiah 9:23, God warns us not to boast in human wisdom, physical might, or earthly riches. Why? Because those things are temporary, fragile, and utterly incapable of saving our souls or bringing true fulfillment. Instead, God explicitly tells us what is worth celebrating: understanding and knowing Him. There is a vast difference between knowing about God and truly knowing Him. Knowing about Him is academic; knowing Him is relational. It means recognizing His hand at work, trusting His character, and aligning our hearts with what makes Him glad.
When we make intimacy with God our highest pursuit, our perspective changes. We begin to see that He actively rules the earth with lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness. We stop anchoring our confidence in our own performances or bank accounts. Instead, we anchor it in the unchanging character of a Creator who delights in showing us mercy. True security never comes from personal status, wealth, or intelligence, but from an intimate relationship with the Living God. The Lord openly reveals what pleases Him—steadfast love, justice, and doing what is right. We should strive to mirror these traits in our daily lives. When we pursue a deep relationship with God, we step directly into the lifestyle that brings joy to His heart.
What have you been pointing to lately to validate your worth? Is it your career success, your intellect, or your financial stability? Identify one area where you have been relying on human strength or accolades. Consciously surrender that area to God today. Spend time praising Him specifically for His love, justice, and righteousness rather than asking Him for material things.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have boasted in my own strength, wisdom, or achievements. I recognize today that everything I have comes from you. Strip away my spiritual pride and give me a deep hunger to know you more intimately. I rejoice today because you are a God of lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness. Let these same qualities reflect in my life and interactions with others, in Jesus' name, Amen.
Please share. God bless you.
