Key verse: Isaiah 62:12
And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
Psalms 135:3-12
As an example of things to come, the Lord entered into a covenant with Abraham which He brought to pass through Jacob/Israel, to set Abraham’s children apart unto Himself as a peculiar people with a view to using them as a showcase of the beauty of being in relationship with God. In the fulfilment of that arrangement, the Lord showed Israel how and why he must dwell in holiness as He, their God is holy; stood by them against all foes for as long as they operated in holiness; defeated their foes for them without much ado on the part of Israel: nations far bigger and greater were made to eat the humble pie before Israel just to show the benefit of being God’s preferred people.
The other leg of the covenant God had with Abraham is that through his Seed, all the nations of the earth will be blessed. This was actioned when the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sin of man to remove the covering of darkness that had hovered for a long time over man from off him. What this has translated into is that every one that accepts the sacrifice of Jesus as the removal of the covering of the evil cherub that covereth from over his life, is separated unto God and brought within a team of a peculiar people, living not necessarily within the same geographical location like the biblical Israel, but operating as citizens of the Lord’s kingdom on earth. These are afforded safety in all ramification, wellness in the body, defense against every attack of the enemy, soundness of mind and special capabilities that are uncommon to man. They are a special breed.
The beauty of this team is that every member thereof is sought out and picked by the Lord Himself. He sought and appointed the twelve that He made His apostles. He sought Saul of Tarsus and redeemed him until he became part of the city not forsaken. That city is one that affords all its “residents” safety without measure. Are you also a part of that city? Do you think the Lord loves you enough to seek to make you part of the city? Truth is, he has been looking for you to join the city. If only you will accept His invitation, then will you become the redeemed of the Lord and start to enjoy the benefit of the city not forsaken. Why don’t you take the step today? He is not likely to compel you.
Pray: Father, thank you for redeeming me. Do please keep me permanently and forever as a part of the city not forsaken in Jesus name.
