Utilize The Promise Well

Focus: Hebrews 11:13 - KJV

13. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Hebrews 11:39-40

From the time man fell from grace in Eden, God made a promise for the redemption of man. From that time, and up until the promise was fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, everyone that came to earth and knew God, dwelled looking forward to the performance of the promise. Many of them enjoyed God through faith, holding on to the promise that, someday, salvation would come. Even Christ said Abraham waited patiently for His coming but did not witness it, and that when he eventually saw it, he rejoiced. The point is, if those who had no opportunity to live to see the promise forged ahead so much with faith and hope that it would happen, why is it so difficult for those who inherited the promise by living to witness it, to have faith in the fulfilment?

There are two legs to the promise of redemption: the first being the death and resurrection of the Savior; and then the taking up of those who make it to the end, to inherit the Kingdom of their dear Lord. Like the people that awaited the promise before the advent of Christ, if we must inherit the fullness of the promise, then like all the champions of faith, we ought also to shore up our faith in God, believing Him for His promise. Such faith will be exhibited in our standing firm on the belief that Jesus that ascended, is coming back soon to take the Church to Himself. Those who have such faith and hope, will equally ensure they live a life of purity, knowing that He comes to present unto His father, a church without spot or wrinkle.

Friends, the coming of the Lord is very imminent as we read. The signs He spoke to us of that would herald the fulfilment of the promise are all over. Many have equally died while awaiting the fulfilment of this second part of the promise. Like Abraham, they have not lost out on the promise in that when the fulfilment shall come, they would rise first to meet with the Lord before those of us that are alive. Therefore, even if we think people are dying whilst waiting and nothing has happened, please be of good cheer as the dead in Christ would never miss out on the promise. The folly will be to abdicate the promise because people are dying and then the performance catches us ill-prepared. Please, continue in the faith and keep on hoping for the Lord’s appearance, as promised.

SOLUTION: Since we are certain God does not lie, let us be fully focused by faith, on the fulfilment of His promise. Such faith should lead us to live by Christ alone and not by the world, doing all things in accordance with righteousness and love, in purity.

Please pray thus: Father, I believe your promise and look forward to meeting with you as part of the saints. Help me to live the rest of my life in faith and unflinching hope in your promise, in Jesus’ name. Those things that make men to amass spots and wrinkles, please do not let them come my way, in Jesus’ name.
