Focus: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 - KJV
5. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Romans 13:11-14
The night is ordinarily the time people set aside to sleep. It is however, characterized with darkness and it is in darkness that evil thrives. The rising of the sun which gives light, indicates the coming of the day. Only the daring does evil in the full glare of the light. In the spirit realm, there is also day and night with the night signifying darkness. Those who sleep in darkness expose themselves to the danger of the night and if they fall thereby, they are almost without ransom. They are said to have slept the sleep of death. Hence, it is always better to be alert and clear minded in the realm of the spirit so as not to fall victim of the night by slumbering or sleeping.
Talking about day and night, there are those who are born of the day and therefore children of light even as there are the children of darkness. Those that are born of Christ, who is the Light of the world, are the children of the day. As there is no relationship between light and darkness, the children of the day ought not to bend over to sleep in darkness. They sleep in darkness when they operate in the things attributed to darkness, commonly called sin. Those who sleep in darkness are reckoned to prefer darkness to the Light and when the Lord shall return, because there is no darkness in Him, He will reject them and refuse to relate with them. This is why the warning is released to the children of the Light to watch and be sober so as not to end up caught sleeping in darkness.
Beloved, a little romance with sin is about sleeping in darkness. All that killing, whether with the tongue or the barrel of the gun, stealing, adultery, covetousness and so on, belong in darkness and they are a clog in the wheel of the progress of any child of light. Please flee from them all by loving your neighbor as yourself. When you do so, you get yourself prepared for the coming of the father of lights in whom there is neither variableness nor shadow of turning. When you remain vigilant, you will see Him when He comes and you will be able to rise with Him. Nothing that is in darkness, compares with the pleasure of being with Him. Please stay focused.
SOLUTION: Never yield to the luring of darkness. Those who sleep will never hear the sound of the trump when the Lord shall come. Keep vigil to the end by remaining the child of light.
Father, we plead of you: let not our being in you come to waste ever in Jesus’ name. Whatever it takes for us to end up with you, please do for us in Jesus’ name. Let us remain the children of light that you have made us, in all our dealings and doings in life in Jesus’ name. And, whatsoever that makes the children of light want to sleep in darkness, please don’t let it come our ways in Jesus’ name.
