Key verse: 2 Corinthians 9:10
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
2 Corinthians 9:1-10
A harvest is proportionate to the seed sown. If a farmer does not sow, he has nothing to expect at the harvest. There is a sure thing about God: He is fair. He is with a balanced scale in judgment. Many people lay the blame of their circumstance wrongly at the doorstep of God rather than looking to themselves. God gives to every individual bread to eat and seed to sow. Incidentally, many refuse to sow their seed but out of greed and lack of love, eat it as bread. In the end, they complain and say the wealthy is wicked and looks down on them. Ironically, when the wealthy, because he understands the secret of wealth decides to give to them that he may get good measure in return, they still consume all and live yet in squalor while the wealthy gets wealthier still.
Apostle Paul told the Corinthian believers how he had boasted about them to those of Macedonia. He would rather they fulfil the content of such boast so that they may not be disgraced. The boast was that they were benevolent and would give to the need of the workers of the gospel, not for their coveting it, but because it is necessary. It is when they give cheerfully according to what they purpose that God comes in it to bless their seed for a good harvest. Today, many believers withhold their hands from giving to their ministers knowing that many of them have no other vocation than caring for the flock. They listen to the words of the devil whose only intent is to cause their destruction and at the end, they make some faithful ministers, out of pain to become beggars for funds, others, tricksters by using the same gospel committed to them to arm-twist men and thereby become covetous. Those who so cause the ministers to derail by withholding from them shall not be guiltless before God. Those who however give do so for their own promotion and prosperity.
Beloved, all that you have are given to you by God. Be careful not to eat your seed as bread. Oh! Those ministers are thieves? Who made you the judge of that? Leave them to God their appointor. Focus on your own well-being for it is more blessed to give than to receive. Start to practice giving from today and your wealth shall come soon.
Pray: Father, please give me the heart of giving, particularly to the poor and towards your work that I may enjoy bountiful harvest always in Jesus name.
