Abraham’s Faith

ree

Focus: Romans 4:18, 20-21 - KJV

18. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 20. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Hebrews 11:17-19

The Lord is looking around the earth for Abraham’s kind of faith in the current generation. Abraham, like any other man, never saw God when he heard Him speak and told him to get out of his nativity to a land he never knew. When, after very old age, he had a son whom he loved, He heard God say slay the same in sacrifice and proceeded to do so having confidence that what the Lord had promised regarding him being a father of many nations, He would perform. He did not consider that he was further wrinkled and therefore less likely at the time, to bring forth than when God first spoke with him. Such faith is indeed staggering; but such is the faith that gives God pleasure. He needs us to be reassured always that with Him, nothing shall be impossible.

When Jesus got to the tomb of Lazarus and met mourners still mourning despite telling them that He is the resurrection and the life, He was perplexed at their unbelief and wept. When God communed with the great prophet Ezekiel in a vision about the valley full of dry bones, even Ezekiel could not answer God’s queries about the bones coming to life in confident affirmation. But God showed him that when He purposes something, He brings it to bear. He made the dry bones to become a standing mighty army in Ezekiel’s full glare. All it took to quench the thirst of a nation in the wilderness was the striking of a rock with a rod. God dumbfounds the wise with the foolish things of this world.

Today, the Lord is asking how long we shall remain without a strong faith in Him concerning those things we have heard Him say to us? Those who will relate with God with strong faith unwavering will surely eat the fruit thereof in that God will never deny Himself. He is asking us all to step out in faith today if indeed we are the spiritual children of Abraham, by faith. When we do so, He is set to accord us the same kind of glow He accorded Abraham and everyone in His hall of fame by backing up His word for us to the letter.
