Be Separate

ree

Focus: 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 - KJV

14. Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15. And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

Ephesians 5:7-11

There is never an agreement between light and darkness. They do not mix. Yet some assume they can be partakers of the cup of the Lord and that of devils. Light is pure and therefore, casts no shadow. It is when the light is obstructed by something that lacks light that shadow is cast. The casting of shadow is evidence of the obstruction of the light by a lightless object. Hence, since light and darkness do not mix, the pure light stays on, while the lightless object that tries to mix with the light casts shadow. They are never blended. The shadow will show, no matter what. It is therefore foolhardy to assume light and darkness can mix.

Ananias and Sapphira thought there was no big deal to be partly light and partly darkness. They together lived in pretense thinking they could deceive the apostles. Little did they know that their standing before the light would give them away as they were bound to cast a shadow since they had no light in its true purity. Once revealed, death did the separation between the light and darkness. Simon the sorcerer heard the preaching of the Gospel of light and first surrendered to the light. But he could not be fully transformed to light since he carried in himself issues of darkness. Before long, he began to cast a shadow and was rebuked sharply for it.

The Lord is beckoning on believers to be light and stop delving into darkness while pretending to be light. Just like oil and water do not mix, there is no way light and darkness would mix. There will be a clear separation through the casting of shadow. We are therefore to separate ourselves from all things that have the connotation of darkness, if we must be light and of God, indeed.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for your light that beams through my life. From today, I separate myself completely from every unproductive work of darkness, in Jesus’ name. Whatever it is that is left in me that may want to cast shadow through me, please expunge today, in Jesus’ name. Let your name forever be glorified in the light that is in me in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
