Becoming A Wonder

Focus: Psalms 71:7 - KJV

7. I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

John 3:7-8

There is something peculiar about the believer that makes him different from the people of the world. Those that are of the world are predictable. Their thoughts, words and actions spot them easily and reveal their identity even in the crowd. But the believer is not so. He is a believer rightly so called because he has surrendered his life to Christ and the life that he lives, he does by the Spirit of God having been born of water and the Spirit. Hence, every thought, speech and action of his, are based on the leading of the Spirit and therefore, he is unpredictable. So, as the wind blows and man hears it but knows not from where it comes, so is the believer in all ramifications of his life, a wonder.

Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews. That simply tells that he was well schooled in the laws and ways of Moses, yet he was so ordinary that there was nothing special to depict his person amongst the crowd. But he found that there was something special about Jesus and wanted to know what it was. Christ did not hide it from him. The secret simply is being born again. When a man is born again, he is no longer just flesh and blood, but also now Spirit-born, just like Jesus. Christ showed him that the fact that He was born of the Spirit accounted for His works and wonder. Sweet to say, and beautiful to the hearing of Nicodemus. Nevertheless, something in his heart prevented Nicodemus from becoming an immediate wonder, as he refused to get born again instantaneously.

On this glorious day, the Lord is telling us to put an end to our deceiving ourselves. Like Nicodemus, many have heard the basis of being a wonder but are still at the crossroads about what to do even though they pretend to believe. Unless and until we be born of water and the Spirit, we cannot see the Kingdom of God. It is the Spirit that quickens and makes the believer a wonder. Until we accept the ways of Christ and begin to be led by the Spirit, we make ourselves some caricature of sorts. Let us therefore, be born again truly, by abstaining fully from the ways of the world and imbibing the Spirit fully.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the opportunity you gave me through Christ and by your Spirit to be a wonder to the world. Let your Spirit be so profound in me so that I no longer manifest the works of the flesh in any way. From this day, let every thought, word or action of mine be as directed by your Spirit alone and let me be identified also as your wonder through mighty works and greater works like Christ promised, in Jesus’ name. A glorious day I seek, please grant it to me Lord, by your power, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
