Building as Lively Stones

Focus: 1 Peter 2:5 (KJV)"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."

Ephesians 2:20-22

The Divine Architecture

God is building a spiritual house, and its stability is found in its foundation: Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone. As believers, we are not passive observers of this construction; we are "lively stones," chosen to support and fortify the Church of the living God. Our purpose is to complement this building through lives that reflect His holiness and strength.

The Quality of Our Sacrifice

Not every contribution to the Kingdom is accepted by the Master. The Lord is clear: any sacrifice built on the solid foundation of Christ must be in conformity with Christ. When we build with "faulty sacrifices"—motives rooted in self-aggrandizement, fleshly pride, or personal achievement—the work is annulled. True service is a "holy priesthood" that points away from ourselves and directly toward the Savior.

Building Beyond Strife

Even the early Church faced the temptation to build incorrectly. Converts were sometimes entangled in arguments over supremacy, debating who was greater between leaders like Paul or Apollos. This remains a "very wrong way to build." Whatever we achieve is done only in the name of Jesus. Today, the Lord is redirecting our focus: discard all notions of self-promotion and strife. When we realize that all we do is unto the Lord, the entire Body of Christ is strengthened.

A Prophetic Prayer for Builders

In the mighty name of Jesus, I decree that every machinery of hell aimed at disrupting your ability to build correctly is destroyed for your sake. May your work be more acceptable unto God now than ever before. I pray that every root of anger or strife caused by the works of others is dissipated right now, in Jesus’ name. Receive the grace to remain a focused, lively stone in God’s holy house, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
