Defeating The Gang Up

Focus: Psalms 2:2-3 KJV: The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

There is almost always an ultimate spirit of rebellion against God's sovereign authority among men. Many times, powerful political leaders consciously gather to form a united front against God and His anointed. Their grievance is that God’s moral boundaries, laws, and truth feel like restrictive chains. In their pride, they declare a war of independence, plotting together to shatter God's rules so they can live in absolute, unchecked autonomy. Yet, it is God that rules even in the affairs of men.

Historically, Herod and Pilate were bitter political enemies who despised each other. However, when Jesus was arrested, their shared hostility toward Christ united them. They took counsel together. They directed their combined state power directly against Jesus, the ultimate "Anointed One" (the Messiah). Herod mocked Him and dressed Him in a gorgeous robe, while Pilate, despite knowing Jesus was innocent, caved to political pressure and officially condemned Him to the cross. The religious and political establishment viewed Jesus's spiritual kingdom as a massive threat to their power and lifestyle. By crucifying Him and sealing His tomb with a Roman guard, they believed they had successfully "broken the bands" and permanently silenced God's authority over their territory. How so wrong they were.

No matter how much worldly leaders plot, rage, or attempt to erase God's truth from society, human rebellion can never overthrow the sovereign throne of God. It may not necessarily be the political leadership of your nation that is moving against you but leadership of any kind; the Lord has good news for you today. Your enemies shall surely fail as the Lord has you protected in the hollow of His palm. No matter the conspiracy level, your victory is assured. Be of good cheer.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord for having me protected from the wickedness of this world. As your anointed, please fight my battles and give me the victory. The grace to stick to your purpose, never to look back, please give unto me. Shake the foundations of evil projected against my life and let them be swallowed up by the ground, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please share. God bless you.
