Focus: James 1:22 - KJV
22. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Luke 6:46-49
Welcome to the ninth month in the Calendar. As the Lord has brought you through all the troubles of the past months unscathed, He will make this a month of celebration for you in Jesus’ name. It is one thing to claim that Jesus is one’s Lord and it is another thing for Him to truly be the person’s Lord. A Lord is someone that is submitted to totally without reservation, being one’s owner. When a Lord commands, it is done. But there are a lot who claim that they have a lord in someone but go mocking the same behind or overturning the direct instructions of same. They work irritable things and yet pretend to be the subject of the same. However, it is those who respond positively to do as their Lord tells them that are the Lord’s delight. Unless a subject becomes the delight of his lord, he cannot expect to take benefit of his lord.
Everyone that is a Christian affirms that Jesus is the Lord. Yet, the bulk of Christians today do not even do any of the things the Lord commands. For instance, it is the mind of Christ that His disciples love one another and give to the needy. Indeed, His standard is to give one out of two belongings to one who really has none. If we are truly Christians, why is it then that the poor are getting poorer while the affluent are rolling in splendor accumulating materials they have not used for long and are never likely to use again without giving it out to the needy? Which Christ is the Lord of such people? Hence, Christ Himself rhetorically asked: why call me Lord, Lord and obey not my commands? If truly He is the Lord, why not obey Him to enjoy His benefits? He is bent to support those who are His delight as He sees them as builders with solid foundation.
The Lord wants us to know that it is our lack of knowledge that robs us of great benefits. It is not enough for us to gather or assemble daily dissecting the word of God and bringing out the meat thereof without us putting that which we extract to good use. If only we can them to use, then can we challenge the Lord based on His words. Since He is not man that He should lie, it is possible for us to say to Him: “Lord, you said when we do this and that, you will do so and so; we have done as you said, where now is our recompense?” But if we do not act on the words of God, how do we tell Him we are entitled to anything of His? The Lord is faithful. The foundation of our building is what we need to check. When we act on His words, we will find it solid and standing in times of turmoil; otherwise, it is not His fault and we cannot blame Him for our troubles.
SOLUTION: It is not enough to study the Bible from cover to cover without extracting God’s instructions to act on. Unless we act on it, our reading is of no benefit. Take extra note of the words of Christ to internalize them and do them to the letter. Therein lies the benefits of the Kingdom. Happy New Month.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for bringing you into a new Month. Many saw the last month but are no more. Praise God for your life
· Humble yourself before the Lord by acknowledging Him still as your Lord and ask Him to please forgive you for not doing all He has commanded in the past
· Pray that He should please guide you into the knowledge of His words that you may not be deceived by the enemy into believing fables
· Ask God to help you to do and not just hear His words so that you may stand solidly against any storm of life
· Pray that the Lord gives you your daily bread for this month for every day in it.
