Don't Be Wicked

Focus: Psalms 50:16 - KJV

16. But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

Psalms 15:16-22

There are many wicked people who present themselves as holy men leading assemblies that are meant to be of God. They take up scripture to use the letter thereof to presumably instruct others unto righteousness but, often times to do that which would get them fed, without them following the same instruction which they seem to teach. As it is impossible to give what we do not have, they aggregate people into the assembly without an iota of recognizable righteousness flowing from any. They are such that themselves hate the instruction of God and ignore His injunctions; they are thieves and when they see others stealing, they consent and prod them on. They do not mind hobnobbing with adulterers and take pleasure in the things they do. They are quick to speak evil particularly against those with whom they had been close associates/brethren. They keep on keeping on as if God is like them, not knowing that it is the mercy and longsuffering of God that has prevented Him from releasing them to the dragon.

Judas Iscariot was a brother to Christ and the purse keeper of His ministry. When it was time to practicalize evangelism and Christ sent His disciples out in pairs, he was one of those who went out to preach knowing fully well that he was a thief and had affiliation with thieves and destroyers. He was quick to submit to betraying Jesus because clearly, he did not reckon fully with the doctrines of Christ and yet stayed on with Him as if to say he belonged with Him. Even though the Lord knew his intentions and revealed it ahead of his deeds, He kept him on as if it did not matter, just perhaps he may repent and focus on the Lord’s instruction first to do, and then to teach others. Alas, Judas would not be persuaded from his thievery and such thoughts and so, was pained when the alabaster oil bottle was broken to anoint the Lord prior to His burial. The son of perdition never saw the light until it became too late and he actually betrayed his Lord to no gain of his.

God is cautioning us to be careful what we do so as not to be adjudged wicked. Let us be careful to be doers of God’s word and not just hearers or mere readers. Even so, because we are anointed by reason of the word of truth which we carry, let us not put our mouths to evil use slandering our neighbors, talk less of our Christian brothers, to others with a view to destroying their reputation or selling them out. It is important not to sit in the seat of the scornful or have any affinity with sinners. Stealing is forbidden of God and therefore we ought neither to steal nor approve of those who steal in any way. God is a righteous judge and is seeing all that we do. Even though the judgment is yet to descend, consider it a time of mercy calling for repentance so that you may avoid the impending consequences judgment would bring. In all, God will not leave the righteous to allow the wicked to expound His statutes. What they teach is not of God: It is either copied, stolen or just borne out of the letter.

SOLUTION: Do not be like the Pharisees of Jesus’ time who preached something and did something else. Allow not wickedness to reign in your heart. Rather do good and obey the instructions of God as contained in the good book, always. Then, God will be able to entrust you with His statutes to teach from understanding the spirit thereof.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for loving you and not wanting you to end up like Judas Iscariot in any way

·      Ask God to be merciful unto you in whatever way you may have acted wickedly either with words or through some action or not fully complying with God’s instruction from His word

·      Pray for the strength of the Holy Ghost to be able to stand in full obedience to the Lord’s instruction and will

·      Pray that the benefits found in obedience be available to you from now on and that you may receive understanding grace for the Lord’s statutes to teach them

·      Ask for your daily bread today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
