Exalt the name of the Lord

Focus: Psalms 34:3 - KJV

3. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Psalms 34:1-5

To exalt is to raise in rank, honor, power, character, quality; to elevate. To be able to elevate anyone, it presupposes that one is greater than the one to be elevated or raised in rank. It takes a superior person to elevate or exalt another. Yet, David seeks in the Psalms that we exalt the name of the Lord together. Meanwhile, there is none greater than the Lord. It must mean that what David sought to achieve was just to express a position that appears like lifting the name and the being of God. Even at that, the Lord whom we seek to exalt is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does not change and cannot be changed. Nonetheless, if through our holding Him in awe, we downsize ourselves or our names before Him, then is He magnified. It means we must consider ourselves of no relevance and create in our minds a posture of God in a larger manner than we had known or envisaged His being. When we do so, God delivers us from our fears and takes away our shame by the light of His countenance.

David was confronted by a boisterous and giant Goliath. Rather than diminish the stature of His God by being afraid of the presence of the giant, he exalted the name of His God, by making himself irrelevant in the battle and projecting his God instead. Before long and sooner than anyone could have imagined, Goliath was headless and David’s fear if he had any, was gone; the shame that gleared the whole of Israel and her king in the face was taken away by the victory God gave to them that day. What is that situation that is bringing you to fear? Overcome it today by magnifying your God above the source of fear. That situation will no longer be there when you acknowledge God as God over it.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ the One who is greater than all our problems, I agree with you and declare that every mountain that is preventing you from reaching your goal shall be demolished effortlessly for you today. Every giant that is roaring like a lion over your well-being are beheaded for your sake today in the name of Jesus. Like David prevailed against Goliath, you shall prevail over all those challenges giving you grave concern in Jesus name. Just exalt the name of Jesus and your victory is sure. Hallelujah!
