Focus: Acts 14:22 - KJV
22. Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Acts 15:32-36
It is never the joy of the enemy that anyone receives salvation. Hence, when a man is drawn out of darkness into the marvelous light of God, the enemy earnestly seeks to draw him back into darkness by luring him into his old ways, or confronting him with tribulations so as to make it appear that his new position is in no way beneficial. The way to keep a new convert in faith is for the believer to give him close marking, leaving no room for the enemy to deceive him. This is done by a constant follow up and continuous feeding with the milk of the word. Where there is no dearth of the word, the new convert has something to hinge on and stay in the faith until he is grounded to the extent that he is no longer susceptible to being blown away by the winds of doctrines.
Paul and Barnabas knew the importance of follow up. Even though they were themselves not free from persecution, they were constant in returning to the cities in which they had preached and made converts, to ensure that those converts were not swept away by the enemy. They ensured that they checked on the wellbeing of the converts and constantly fed them with the word of life anew. This was how they sustained many in the faith and grew the Church.
The Lord is stressing the importance of not just fruit bearing but that the fruits must abide. All believers must take it to heart to follow up their converts so that their efforts may not become futile when the enemy bombards the converts. It is time to ensure we cause the converts to remain in the faith. Not by prayers alone, but also by conscious follow up efforts. Some of them are often brought to crossroads and they know not how to make progress. Our acts of follow up will assist them to refocus.
Please pray:
Thank you, father for all those who have come to you through my ministration in some way in the past. The strength with which to go after them again so as to ensure that they abide in faith, please provide in Jesus’ mighty name. Let no power of hell succeed in snatching anyone from you, in Jesus’ name. Let the knowledge and the power of your word increase in the hearts of the converts and even me, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
