Focus: Luke 21:1-4 - KJV
1. And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. 2. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. 3. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: 4. For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
2 Corinthians 8:2-12
Our God is faithful in all good things. When we show Him love, He appreciates it so much that He reciprocates our love despite having first loved us by giving us all that we need to thrive in life, ordinarily. It is however, surprising that when it comes to giving back to God, we are so distrust that we reluctantly give the crumbs to Him as if He was begging us to come to His aid. In the meantime, there is nothing we have or attain that did not come from Him. Whatever we give to Him, He has much more in the place where He took from to give us in the first place. And since He loves reciprocity, when we give from what we are given, He gives back in multiple folds and the cycle never ends if we are faithful to giving to Him, continually.
It is interesting to know that whatever we do for the Lord, He watches and sees all that we give to determine who gives truly in love and those who just cast something at Him for casting’s sake, or like they say, to fulfil all righteousness. A multitude was giving their offering at the same time, dropping and moving on. Christ noticed that the bulk of them were giving just a small part of their belongings but a poor widow who gave what appeared like the least sum, into the till, actually gave her hundred percent. It is so sad that when we give peanuts in the offering basket, we tend to display it for people to see as if we have done a big deal because of the volume we are dropping. Someone beside us giving that seeming inconsequential sum is meanwhile, doing better and much more accepted by our God, than ours.
The Lord is making us to realize that there is nothing we do for His name’s sake that He does not see and know the measure. At times, we do not even realize that when we give to the ministers of the Gospel, we are actually giving to God whom they serve. There are those who treat their ministers like beggars and the Lord does observe and take note of those things. Let us therefore, do all that we do as unto the Lord so that the Lord Himself can reciprocate our gesture with huge blessings. The widow, even though unnamed, got her acts written in scriptures because of her giving. God wants to propagate you to the world if you will surprise Him with your love, through sacrificial giving, also.
SOLUTION: Please know that there is nothing you have that you did not get from God and if you leave the world the money you are keeping away from the Lord will be squandered by others. Give bountifully to God so He may keep your blessings large and make them to last long.
Please pray:
· Thank God for all the good things He has bestowed you with despite how you treat Him
· Ask Him to please forgive you for having treated Him shabbily, through your giving in offering, and to the ministers of God
· Pray that the Lord gives you real benevolent heart to be a cheerful giver and to give quality offerings from time to time
· Ask God never to stop giving you bread to eat and seed to sow for as long as you live
· Ask for your daily bread for today
