Heart, The Word’s Receptacle

ree

Focus: Ezekiel 3:10 - KJV

10. Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

Ezekiel 3:10-11

The word of God is not only to be heard but also to be committed to heart. Those who do hear the word of God with their ears but fail to commit them to their hearts are not able to please God in that they do hear and forget what was said to them. To get the proper effect of the word of God and to be able to pass the same down to others to profit therefrom, the recipient needs to commit the words to heart. Such words that find way into the heart cannot be lost easily. It is by the word of the Lord that we are helped out of situations in captivity.

The king of Babylon received the word of God in a dream. Because he did not put his heart to attention in making it a receptacle of the word of God, he could not remember what he heard. Hence, he sought to kill all magicians, seers and astrologers in his domain, if they failed to reveal to him the content and interpretation of his dream. Yet, there was another king in Egypt who heard the words of God through two separate dreams, and related the same to those who had relationship with God, the Author of the word, to interpret. In the end, the king of Egypt was able to save many lives from hunger and lengthy famine because he committed the word of God to heart and drew from it to help his kingdom and many others.

The Lord is emphasizing that He is the word and the hearts that receive His word receive Him. Everyone that so receives Him has the solution to the issues of life. We are therefore, enjoined to commit God’s words to heart and not just hear Him alone. As we commit the words to heart, act on it personally, and open it up to others to do likewise, the solution appears to issues confronting us.

Please pray:

Thank you, Lord for your word that comes to me for guidance. Please do not let my ears be deaf to your words; and even as I hear them, let them find their way into my heart never to depart, in Jesus’ name. Use your word to shed light on my path today that I may not stumble or fall, in Jesus’ name. Let your glory begin to show upon my life as I put your words to practice from today, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
