Knowing God’s Way

Focus:

"Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people."Exodus 33:13 (KJV)

Moses was in a high-stakes moment. He was tasked with leading a stiff-necked people through a wilderness, and he knew that his own talent and leadership skills weren't enough. In this prayer, Moses reveals a profound spiritual secret: to truly know God, we must walk in His ways.

Notice the order of Moses' request. He doesn't just ask for a map or a list of rules; he asks to see God’s way so that he might know God more intimately. Often, we want God to show us the "way" just so we can get to our destination or solve a problem. But for the believer, the "way" is the path to deeper fellowship. When we align our steps with His—choosing His character, His timing, and His methods—we begin to see His heart.

Moses also recognizes that everything starts with grace. He doesn't demand an audience based on his resume; he asks based on the "grace" he has found.

Today, we have that same access through Jesus. We don't have to stumble in the dark. We can pray this same prayer: "Lord, don't just give me what I want; show me how you work, so I can know you better." Therefore, let us stop seeking God's "hand" for what He can give me, more than we seek His "way" for how He wants us to live. Let our primary goal in life not be to reach a certain destination, but to know God through the journey. How can you practice "finding grace" in God's sight today through humble prayer?

Prayer:Heavenly Father, I thank you for your grace that meets me right where I am. Like Moses, I ask that you would show me Your way. I don't want to move a single step without Your guidance. Teach me Your paths and align my heart with Yours, so that through my obedience, I may grow to know You more deeply. Be the leader of my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Please share. God bless you.
