Text: Luke 13:23-25
23. Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24. Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Life on earth is short and full of sorrows compared with the expectation of the saints who will be in the bosom of their Lord in eternity after the sojourn on earth. For His love for mankind, the Lord, over the ages has reeled out men in the form of prophets, priests and preachers to sound the warning that men ought to live in righteousness and holiness and forsake the wicked ways. However, many remain adamant and insist every work of these emissaries is not true. Salvation is available unto everyone who will forsake their evil ways and accept the Way, Jesus Christ has shown. There are two gates available unto mankind for passage. There is one which is very broad and wide. In it is all forms of pleasure and ungodliness. The way that leads to it seems right but the end of it is destruction. There is another strait but narrow gate which is characterized with moderation, love and holy living. It leads to the Father but it is most unattractive to many. The harvester of souls is about to come for the harvest. Many are yet unprepared and therefore staying outside. Ironically, some are neither in the broad nor narrow gate - still testing the waters. It doesn’t matter what their works are, if the harvester comes and they are still in that state, they are counted as part of the dogs and will not be allowed into eternal bliss because of their momentary carelessness. Where are you? Are you yet outside? Come into the narrow gate now and life eternal is guaranteed unto you.
Father, whatever must be done to keep me in the narrow way please do so that your investment into my life does not come to waste. Help me to make it to the very end in Jesus name.
