Pride Attracts Destruction

Focus: Proverbs 16:18 - KJV

18. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 11:2

Pride is a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, or that of those with whom he is closely associated. No one achieves something unless it is first ordained of God; for the business of the enemy is to ensure no man succeeds. It is God that puts the enemy at bay so that success shows forth. When therefore, a man becomes proud because of success, he removes the God input in his affairs and attributes the same to himself or his team. By so doing, he tells God to mind His business forthwith; and when God turns away, the enemy takes the charge, to destroy.

Job was a successful man. Even though he did not tell God off, when God stayed away for a bit, he became a destitute, kind of. That is what the enemy does when God is not in the affairs of a man. The rich young fool attributed his achievements to himself and did not countenance God who made all of it possible. God decided to withdraw from him knowing that he would not last one day if He did, in the hands of the enemy. What we found was that he died like the Lord had said, because the enemy destroyed him when his pride had removed God from his affairs.

The mind of God is to keep us all in success and He is never tired of doing that for us. But He is crying out today that we desist from making Him seem insignificant in our affairs. When our language becomes “I did” without an acknowledgement of God, we start to tread on dangerous lines. The truth is, the enemy is a strong accuser of the brethren and what his accusations border on is to remind God He does not lie: once this person has shown pride, he deserves your presence no more. And since God is not a liar, unless our Advocate stands strong on our side, how do we overcome these accusations? And who says the Advocate will stay continually on the side of the unrepentantly proud one?

Please pray:

Thank you, Father, for all you have made me to achieve in this life. Please let your Spirit of humility continue to abide in and with me for greater achievements in your honor, in Jesus’ name. Repel from inside of me, everything that may cause me to be full of myself and not show you gratitude. Let the enemy be far from me and my affairs; and whenever he comes with his accusations, please stand for my defense dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let destruction be far from me and that which you have achieved through me, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
