Rest On All Sides

Focus: 1 Kings 5:4 - KJV

4. But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

Proverbs 16:7

The solution to antagonism is in living in righteousness. Whenever the Lord finds a man’s way pleasing, He gives him rest on all sides such that even his enemies find peace with him. And once the enemies are at peace, there is no basis for strive or worry. The converse is also true: when a man’s ways displease the Lord, he pushes the Lord out of his affairs and by his own doings open the door unto the enemy to have a field day in his affairs. Such a being is constantly exposed to enemy torments and therefore lacks peace.

David was in ordinary parlance, a man of war. But a time came in his life that everything was calm in his kingdom. When at a time he messed up regarding the case of Bathsheba and Urriah, not only were enemies raised from without, but even from within his own household. Nevertheless, as he was succeeded by Solomon, the same sought the face of the Lord and made pleasing moves unto God. Very soon, he was operating in peace on all sides despite being surrounded by erstwhile enemies of the kingdom. In actual fact, hardly did Solomon had a battle to fight for his entire reign for, like he said in scripture, God gave him rest on all sides.

What will it be: peace or trouble; rest or commotion? The Lord is asking us that today. To have peace and rest, then we must in a watchful manner ensure our ways be pleasing unto the Lord, then will He make us to have rest on all sides and cause unparalleled tranquility; if, however we fail to please God by obeying His commands, we ask Him to stay off our affairs. When He does stay off, we get exposed to any form of enemy that has always been on the prowl seeking to devour those he finds in the way.

The peace of God that passes all understanding shall rest with you from today in Jesus’ name. By the same peace, the Lord will give you rest round about you in Jesus’ name. Everyone that had constituted themselves into enemies against you, shall begin to see you as someone to respect and maintain as friend in Jesus’ name. You will no longer encounter or experience trouble from now on, in Jesus’ name.
