Focus: 1 Corinthians 9:24 - KJV
24. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
In an elementary school’s sport outing, pupils were gathered to run a race. Those who won were slated for prices. When the race started, some went completely in the opposite direction from the finish line. Some others went approaching familiar faces in the crowd standing by; yet some saw candy stands with parents, uncles and aunties around it and went in the direction; while a few others kept moving towards the finish line and some of these actually won prizes. Life is equally a race. Unfortunately, many like the distracted pupils are not focused on the price. Paul tells us how to run in this race to win. We need to be temperate in all things not letting the annoyance from the competition get to us. We need to run the race with certainty and in the direction of the finish line as against frolic chasers. We must of necessity subdue the flesh so that it does not keep us out of the race by its unsavory demands. When we are fully focused and concentrate on the goal, we are definitely billed for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.
Please be mindful of distractions and the lures of the flesh in your outing today. They only come with a plan and that is, to rob one of the ultimate prize. Do everything you can by the help of God to keep pressing on. Endure the hardship in the way. Please don’t be distracted but keep pushing on in the right direction. The enemy is not able to rejoice over you once you keep your focus.
SOLUTION: Lay aside everything that is not necessary in your walk with Christ. Put the flesh into total subjection. Hold tenaciously to Christ in every aspect of your life not allowing your hand to slip off His grip.
The Lord will hold you up by His Spirit until you win the price in Jesus’ name. You will never fall by the way side in Jesus’ name. And every distractor shall be taken away from your glare in Jesus’ name. Keep at the race: Run to Win.
