Stop Wasting Your Life

Focus: Matthew 6:34 - KJV

34. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 6:25-30

The life of a man is so short that there is no room for frivolities. There is a purpose for which every man is born into this world and such purpose is accorded a specified time to be accomplished. It is not part of such purpose to be anxious about food, shelter or raiment which are things the Lord provides freely to them who go for the right purpose. It is the mind of God that man will pursue the purpose for which he is made which purpose dovetails into seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness. But when people spend time, which is life, pursuing money and fame, by the time they realize that the time is spent, it becomes too late and that for which they wasted time/life, they can’t find.

The time available for Christ was about thirty-two years. Whilst He was a child, He was in His earthly father’s trade. When He realized purpose fully, He was found only in that purpose and not in time wasting. He told us also to do the same. Many are concerned about how to raise children whilst there are children whose parents died in their infancy and ended up being well nurtured. Others spent time fending for children and in their own old age, the same children do not have their time because they are also engaged in fending for their own children, like in a rat race. From the day Peter eventually put aside his fishing net and focused on purpose, it was never recorded he lacked any good thing.

The Lord wants us to know that He already made provision for our well-being. When we keep running after the same things He already provided, we call Him a liar. A wise man once said those who run after money end up having money running away from them. How so true! Many have spent life pursuing money or food or raiment and have in the end found it is vain to do so. God is saying we should look to Him. His words are that we seek first His Kingdom and righteousness and see all that we have been pursuing in vain, fall on our laps from the hands of other men. Let us stop majoring in minor and focus on our major.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for your daily provision for me and my household. Help me to focus fully on your purpose for my life so that I do not end up wasting my life. Please aid me to redeem the time because the days are evil, so that I may fulfil your purpose and the destiny carved out for me, in Jesus’ name. As I pursue your kingdom and righteousness, let men favor me with the things that will make life worthwhile for me, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let today mark the beginning of my excellence in you, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
