Strive For The Incorruptible Crown

Focus: 1 Corinthians 9:25 - KJV

25. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

2 Timothy 2:1-5

Surely there is an end to everything that has a beginning. The life that was started at conception, terminates in death. But, for every believer in Christ, there is an assurance of life after the current life ends in death. After the current life, those who make eternal life are given incorruptible crown. It is incorruptible because, in that realm nothing that corrupts is allowed. However, to make it to eternal life, we must strive against trials and temptations hauled at us by the corrupter, whose goal is to ensure we do not make life in eternity. To defeat him, we need to endure temptation no matter the form it comes. God has prepared the crown for us. It is never His joy that we miss it. Hence, He tempts no man with evil.

Job was considered an upright man. Satan did not agree that he was just for nothing. Hence, he proffered to tempt Job in myriads of ways that he may forfeit his blessedness with the Lord. When it appeared that the man continued to strive for the mastery in the Lord, the enemy moved his wife against him. The response of Job was to refuse to deny God so that he may not forfeit what the Lord had in store for him. In the end, since Job stood his ground in the Lord in whom he believed, he got the victory over the enemy. He fought a good fight and triumphed, just like Paul declared at the tale end of his ministry. Christ our example strove equally for the mastery and got it. When it was about time to be slain, He declared that Satan had no baggage in Him.

The Lord is saying to us today that trials and temptations are aimed at derailing us from making life in eternity. We give the enemy the room to achieve his aim when we allow our lusts to thrive in the direction of that which the enemy wants to topple us from.  Our resilience is being put to trial every day until we receive the crown. Hence, we should be strong, immovable and steadfast in our God. It is only then that we are assured of the incorruptible crown. It is for those who will reign with the Lord in eternity unending.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for a good life that you have given me to live in Christ Jesus. Temptations are rife and glaring me in the face luring me to deny you. But I trust and rely on you to help me to endure to the end like Job. Let me never lose sight of that crown that you have made for me, O Lord, in Jesus’ name. Keep me strong and striving for the mastery, so that I may never be a loser, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
