The Burden Of Godliness

Focus: John 7:3-5 - KJV

3. His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. 4. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. 5. For neither did his brethren believe in him.

John 7:1-9

The devil hates them that are godly. When anyone operates in the truth of God, it infuriates the devil and he raises opposition against the same with a view to killing him.  The people in such category are they that work against darkness to dispel it wherever it is found. It is interesting that there are many people who profess Christ and His kingdom but are not troubled by the kingdom of darkness neither does the enemy seek to kill them. Such mix theirs with lies and therefore are less effective on the devil and his kingdom. But when you speak the truth, it hurts darkness and it fights back seriously.

The Christ Himself was sought to be killed by the Jews because He told them the truth which was contrary to the lie they were used to. At a point He asked them for the basis they sought to kill Him, whether it was for telling them the truth or for the miracles He did among them. When Jesus called them to genuine repentance, it hurt them in that Moses had told them to shed the blood of animals for their sins. This particular lie, David discovered and moved away from when he said in Psalm 51 that God countenanced not such blood. The truth remains bitter to the purveyors of the lie, and they feel threatened and antagonized by the carriers of the truth. Yet, only the truth sets free.

The Lord is out to encourage a believer today that even though the enemy will always raise opposition from various quarters including those reckoned to be of God, the Lord Himself will uphold His messenger to the end. Hence, no matter what may come our ways, the Lord has our lives in His hands. The truth must be told. Until we do sir, we are not Christ’s disciples indeed. We are therefore, to preach the truth in season and out of season regardless of whose ox is gourd. At times, it is our braveness that the Lord needs to catch a mega fish into His kingdom. If we remain timid, how would we achieve that?

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for bringing me to your truth so that I am no longer under the deception of the devil. Please open the eyes of men to see your truth in that which you send to them through us, so that many more may be free from the shackles of hell, in Jesus’ name. Let every plan and machination of the devil to destroy the purveyors of the truth come to naught, in Jesus’ name. Never allow darkness to prevail over the light, in any way, in Jesus’ name. Many have been martyrs of the truth: please do not let the devil shed any more of the blood of the righteous, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
