The Flesh Breeds Corruption

Focus: Galatians 6:8 - KJV

8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Hosea 8:7

In every man, the flesh antagonizes the spirit for the control of the soul. When a man yields to the flesh, he feeds it and the end is never palatable. Those who yield to the flesh sow into it. And by their works they are known. Others feed the spirit and will rather yield to the spirit rather than the flesh. They who sow to the spirit have their reward in everlasting life. They are known by their fruits for they yield the fruit of the Spirit. The point is, the enemy feeds on the flesh whilst the fruit is the delicacy of the dove. It is the dove that is used to indicate the Spirit of the living God; and the Bible says the enemy is a roaring lion. He feeds on flesh. When a man therefore sows to the flesh, he only will be entitled to corruption of that which he has sown.

Elisha was a man of God that inherited double of the spirit of Elijah. He was conscious about the seeds he sowed, hence he sowed to the spirit. In his harvest he got double the spirit on Elijah. On the other hand, Elisha had a servant called Gehazi. This servant fell prey of the flesh and subsumed his spirit under it. Even though his master rejected the goods brought by leprous Naman, Gehazi would rather have it and hide it away from his master thereby sowing to the flesh. In the end, rather than reap life in the double of what his master had, he got corruption instead. His skin was eaten by the leprosy that Naman had shed.

The Lord is sounding a note of warning. It is common now among many to want to get rich quick and thereby shortchanging their neighbors whom they are called to love. They sow to the flesh rather than pursue the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. The end for such will only be corruption. Let therefore no wicked seed be found of you. the way to life is through the spirit. Let us uphold the more, the spirit over the flesh by obeying the calls of the spirit over the dictates of the flesh. Life is precious and sweet. Corruption is deceptive and destructive. Do not sow to the flesh if you must avoid it.

Please pray:

Father, I love you for you love me indeed. Please keep me up by your Spirit that I may not succumb to the pull of the flesh in Jesus’ name. Make me an overcomer by making me bring forth only the fruit of the Spirit and grant me true life, in Jesus’ name. I ask that you please rebuke the devil for my sake even as I resist him from hence, let him flee completely from me, in Jesus’ name.
