Focus: John 8:12 - KJV
12. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 1:4-9
When God decided to reform the earth from the state of darkness it was plunged into, He reintroduced light which dispersed darkness and made the work of reformation feasible. That same light that was pronounced to being has been personified in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ such that in any place where darkness is prevalent, once Jesus is invited, being the light of the world, darkness is dispersed for His sake. Ironically, darkness makes a place and its occupants comatose. When light is introduced, the place and the beings are brought back to life. Hence, this light of the world is the light that brings life to the world.
Darkness took over the family of Mary and Martha when death took their dear brother Lazarus from them. The darkness was so thick that a lot of people came to mourn with them and they appeared to have no hope of life again for Lazarus who had been in the state of darkness for four days without light or life. But when the light of the world got to the place where darkness reigned, the people around, being blinded to the light did not yet understand what they had. Then, Christ beamed His light into the darkness and the same gave way to life. Alas, the one who had been completely overwhelmed by darkness and death came back to life by reason of the light he encountered. Even those who hitherto were blinded to the light saw life and their mourning was turned to joy.
The Lord is saying to us today that we have allowed ourselves to be blinded to the light that Christ offers us; and that even though the light is brought to our full glare, many are too used to darkness to want to embrace the light. Meanwhile, darkness exhumes death whereas light beams life in men. Hence, God is asking us to embrace Christ today and ever so that the light of life may constantly beam upon us.
Please pray:
Thank you, father for the light that gives us life in Jesus Christ. From this day, let my eyes be receptive to your light that brings me life and life more abundantly, in Jesus’ name. Let the name of Jesus always beam light into my situations for life away from death, in Jesus’ name. Everything that has introduced shades of darkness into my life, I command them to disappear by the light of Christ now, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
