Focus: Mark 8:17 - KJV
17. And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
Mark 8:15-21
The secret thoughts of men are known to God. Someone once said the things done secretly that ought not to be heard by others, are things done in darkness and therefore, ungodly. Unfortunately, in today’s world, many things are done in darkness and truly ungodly which is responsible for the crass decadence in many societies. Secret things emanate from illicit thoughts. In the meantime, all thoughts are open in the sight of our God. The one who says adultery or fornication is already committed by lustful looks sees not only the looks but the thoughts behind them to come to the conclusion the are lustful, adulterous and sinful. If therefore, He can so discern, there is no other thing in our thoughts, not to talk of actions, that is really so secret before the judge of the whole earth. Ask David! To him, the assassination of Urriah was secretly carried through by trusted lieutenants. But there it was in the open.
We must never assume anything we do is hidden. Nathan had no way of knowing what David did to Urriah but he got to know somehow. The king of Syria could not believe how his bedroom conversation got to the open in Israel that all his military plans were exposed. Now, we speak not of those who use manipulative electronic gadgets to spy on innocent people with a view to disparaging them before well-meaning members of society for personal vendetta. No! We speak about the all-knowing God, who sees thoughts even before they are fully formed. Importantly, He judges the thoughts and not necessarily the end results. Hence, He wants us to know and stay clear of all issues of darkness which we assume can be achieved in secret, as all hidden things shall be brought to the open glaringly, in the end.
SOLUTION: Never allow the devil to play you into doing anything God will not approve, under the assumption that it will not be known. God is aware of the thoughts behind it not to talk of the implementation you intend to hide. Do not do it, at all.
Please pray:
· Thank God for having helped you out of the plans of the devil to get you entangled in secret sins in the past that the Lord made you to escape; or, if you are already in one, thank Him for giving you this opportunity to repent and retrace your steps
· Ask God to forgive you and cleanse you from your secret sins and to please restore you to Himself in righteousness
· Ask God to please keep you back from presumptuous sins so that they may not have dominion over you and that you may be upright and not sin (Psalm 19:12-13)
· Tell God you will be faithful to Him in thoughts and actions moving forward
· Ask God for the things you desire that may keep you solidly focused on the things of God.
