Psalms 84:1-7
The Lord is a fearsome being; yet He is the most amiable person anyone can think of. He is Love and everything He does flows from love. Hence, despite His fearsome being as the Lord of Hosts, He is gentle and kind to those who come to His presence. Those that frequent His presence find fullness of joy that is difficult to abandon, even as they obtain mercies at His right hand forever more. The psalmist describes it like the nest of birds who find comfort staying there to bring forth offspring, nurture them and stay on unruffled. There is absolutely no danger to be afraid of when in the Lord’s tabernacle. Only those who do abominable things are not at ease in His presence for His eyes abhor sin. It is filthy and therefore abominable to Him.
David tasted the difference between abiding in God’s tabernacle and straying outside to wallow in filth and realized the difference the hard way. When, after the Lord took him from obscurity at the backside of the desert into limelight by making him a champion more famous than the king, for abiding in the tabernacle of God, to becoming the number one citizen amongst the firstborn of God, he thought himself bigger than he was, slept with his lieutenant’s wife and killed the same by which he moved away from the tabernacle to rub himself in the mud, he found that only death of offspring, loss of crown and dishonor from one’s subordinates and even children follow such acts. He lost his firstborn by Bathsheba, he had to abdicate his throne for a while because of the rebellion of Absalom, lost Amnon and got discredited by Shimei and many other ills.
The Lord is inviting us all to stay put in His tabernacle which is a place of refuge and comfort. But only those who will be holy and maintain purity can ascend the holy hill of the Lord to bring us to His presence. It is not enough to just visit His presence momentarily, and leave. It is more honorable to reside in His presence for the greatest and best of life. Every time we go there in filth, we cause a force to push us far away from the Most High. Incidentally, those who are so pushed back are put in the danger of devastation in the hands of the enemy. Anything outside of the Lord’s tabernacle is not for the Lord to care for. Hence, we are encouraged to stick with the Lord by abiding permanently in His tabernacle, which for all intents and purposes is in “Zion” of the Lord.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for making me a citizen of your country, Zion. Let your presence attract me more and more from today, thereby keeping me far away from darkness, in Jesus’ name. Please, separate between me and every source of filth dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Whatever filth that deprives me from the full benefit of your tabernacle, please cleanse me of it today, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
